 Barbara Janoff has taught business
communications for more than twenty
years. She is currently an associate professor
of English at The Fashion Institute
of Technology, State University of New
York. As the college’s Writing Coordinator,
she developed specialized businesswriting
courses for graphic designers,
photographers, and interior designers.
Prior to joining the full-time faculty of
the English and Speech Department, she
served as Interim Dean of FIT’s Continuing
Education Division, where she
was responsible for the marketing and
coordination of its programs.
A consultant on communication issues,
job search strategies, and corporate
training, she also gives presentations and
workshops at academic conferences
nationwide. Janoff is a published poet
and holds a doctorate in comparative literature
from Columbia University. She
lives in New York City and Copake
Falls, New York.
