Brian Dougherty is a partner at Celery Design Collaborative and a recognized leader in the field of green design. Celery is a strategic branding and graphic design firm with a particular emphasis on sustainability and corporate responsibility. The studio's work has been widely published and has received numerous awards for design excellence. Celery has been nominated for a National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt Museum, named to the ID40 list of forty most influential designers internationally, and recognized with an Environmental Leadership Award from the AIGA.
Brian develops brand strategies at Celery, and directs conceptual development of print graphics, packaging and websites. He has years of experience working with industry leaders in corporate responsibility, clean tech, organic foods, renewable energy, and community development. Major clients include HP, Sun Microsystems, The Home Depot, The Natural Step, and Stanford University. He has lectured nationally for the AIGA, the Graphic Artists’ Guild, Forest Stewardship Council, and a variety of colleges and universities. He is on the founding board of advisors for the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design.
Since co-founding Celery ten years ago, Brian has been a strong advocate for a new model of graphic design that deals proactively with social and environmental challenges. Through frequent lectures, magazine articles and public outreach projects, Brian has worked to influence other graphic designers to embrace sustainability as an essential design objective.
