Selina Maitreya has been an international consultant, teacher, and guide to creative talent for the last twenty-seven years. She is, at her core, a vision driver—a steering force who believes in approaching each client with respect for his or her unique individuality. A proponent of taking responsibility for one’s life, her vested interests lie in the “who you are” as opposed to “what you do.” Selina’s mastery as a consultant stems from her appreciation for both of these interpretations of the human/creative enterprise and her ability to strike an equilibrium between them for her clients.
Selina became involved in photography at the age of twenty-one when she attended the New England School of Photography. Shortly thereafter she represented Boston photographers nationally and then moved into the consulting realm, becoming one of the first photography consultants in the country. Her best-selling book, Portfolios That Sell (Amphoto Books), was published in 2003to wide acclaim.
Selina’s spiritual journey began when she was fourteen, long before her introduction to photography. Twenty-eight years later, and through her consulting practice, Selina was introduced to her current spiritual teacher, Janice Hope Gorman.
As Selina pursues her lifelong careers as both teacher and student, she brings significant industry knowledge and a deep spiritual perspective to the photographic community. How To Succeed in Commercial Photography: Insights From A Leading Consultant is the result of Selina’s business wisdom and experience, heart fully wrapped in a blanket of spirit.
