 Michael Saint Nicholas
is a young actor and writer living in Los Angeles. Like many other
actors and writers, he had little idea of what to expect or where to
begin when he first moved there to pursue his acting dreams in 1992.
Fresh out of school, where he studied acting at the University of
Virginia, he encountered in Hollywood a strange new world for which he
was ill-prepared--a world about the business, not the craft, of acting.
As he struggled to
survive, he quickly found out that there was a complete lack of any
kind of tangible information to help new actors "get a foot in the
door." He set out to create a comprehensive guide for the thousands of
actors who relocate to Hollywood each year from all parts of the world
that would provide practical and relevant information on how to break
into the business, one step at a time.
He brings to his book a rich
portfolio of experiences resulting from his quest to succeed in
Hollywood: He has worked as an "extra" in dozens of features and
television programs; he has worked at several major talent agencies,
including the William Morris Agency; he has successfully obtained an
agent and earned membership in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and
American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA); and he
has succeeded in auditioning and earning acting parts in film,
television, and commercials, including feature films such as Geronimo and The Mask, and television programs, such "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Days of Our Lives."
Along the way, he has had the
opportunity to meet and "pick the brains" of many top industry
professionals, including highly distinguished casting directors,
producers, agents, and celebrities, and coupled with the lessons
learned from his own personal experiences, he has come to thoroughly
understand the nuts and bolts of the acting business.
Currently, Michael Saint
Nicholas continues to enthusiastically pursue his acting career, and he
is also working on a screenplay. He lives in North Hollywood,
California.
