At 6'2" tall, Rebecca Pittman turns heads even when she is not displaying her dazzling faux painting and mural creations. Before she began her career in the decorative arts, Rebecca had worked as a runway model and professional singer. She began drawing at the age of eight and it was her gift as a visual artist that led to the career that inspired How to Start a Faux Painting or Mural Business.
For nearly twenty-five years, Rebecca has made her living as muralist, sign painter, and faux painter. She has owned two successful businesses, the sign company The Artist’s Edge and the current Wonderland Productions. She is thrilled to see her murals all over Colorado, Florida, Utah, and other states. “I love people and this career has afforded me so many opportunities to impact their lives that I feel incredibly humble, lucky, and blessed every day,” she observes.
While How to Start a Faux Painting or Mural Business is Rebecca’s first published book, it is hardly her first writing effort. Rebecca was a nominated Sterling Scholar in English and four other subjects and won statewide debate and speech-writing awards before going to college to major in art and minor in journalism. She frequently writes scripts for church productions and has completed a full-length work of fiction for children.
For all her successes, Rebecca is quick to offer that her greatest achievements are her four talented (and tall) sons. Her oldest son is now married and Rebecca gushes about her new daughter-in-law. “The first time I heard, ‘May I help you with the dishes?’ I had her record it so I could hear it again and again,” she laughs.
Rebecca lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with her son Ryan. When she isn't writing or painting she enjoys many outdoor activities such as golf, boating, white water rafting, and travel. "If it involves a compass, a map and an element of adventure, I'm there!"
