DK Holland is a writer, strategist and creative director who turned her attention to nonprofits after developing award-winning programs that included branding, licensing, promotion and product development for companies such as Mattel and Citigroup for more than thirty years. She was, until 2001, a partner in The Pushpin Group, an internationally acclaimed design and illustration firm based in New York City. She is currently the principal of DK Holland, llc, a brand communications consultancy that works exclusively with nonprofits. Her clients include Colorado Historical Society, The Foundation Center, The Literacy Assistance Center, the Organization Development Network, Brooklyn Friends School, and the Buckminster Fuller Institute. Holland recently led the rebranding/renaming team of Governance Matters (formerly the Alliance for Nonprofit Governance) on whose board she served. A former executive director of a national nonprofit and currently a trustee of three nonprofit boards, she volunteered for, founded and chaired two other nonprofits. She is an editor of Communication Arts magazine and the author/creative director of a dozen books on graphic design. A recipient of the Walter Hortens Distinguished Service Award by the Graphic Artists Guild National, she teaches in the graduate school for nonprofit Management of the New School. She lives in New York City.
